Lot 92
IONIA. Uncertain. Circa 650-600 BC. Hemihekte – 1/12 Stater (Electrum, 7 mm, 1.17 g), Lydo-Milesian standard. Uncertain design of irregular lines and recesses (head of a stag to right?). Rev. Rough incuse square with irregular indentations. BMC -. BMFA -. Linzalone -. Pozzi -. Rosen -. SNG Kayhan -. SNG von Aulock -. Traité -. Weidauer -. Of the highest rarity. Struck from somewhat worn dies, otherwise, very fine.

From a European collection, formed before 2005.

As with lot 91 above, no comparable example for this coin could be found in the literature. The depiction on the obverse vaguely resembles a stag's head, yet it again remains unclear whether a specific motif is represented or if these are merely random decorations.
